When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose

That must be the biggest joke we’ve ever heard.
Then, they have gone on to say, “We realize that your newspaper is a black paper, but, you are the only one not afraid to speak out on the issues.”
We need to set the record straight” First. just because we are a black-owned and operated publication does not mean that we are NOT interested in news affecting other segments of any community. The problem is not our attitude, it’s the fear others have of bringing their issues to us OR dealing openly with such issues in general.
Black folks have ALWAYS known and talked about how poorly we (and many segments of the community) are represented in the media. News media has never been interested in what we are doing unless we are pimpin’, pushin’, or plunderin’. They care neither about what we think, or the issues that affect us. That establishes the need for a medium geared to African American issues.
But, we are not biased. We need to tell the WHOLE STORY… Want to tell it. Because we have ALWAYS understood public corruption because it was at the core of the “Black Experience” spanning centuries of mistreatment at the hands of public miscreants.
So, it’s humorous to us, when we see whites who, too are victimized by it, that are scared to stand up and speak out for themselves.
We don’t care what color you are. If you have a story to tell, and it’s truthful and verifiable, we’ll tell it…. Because we ain’t getting the advertising ANYWAY. Ironically, some of our best advertisers are white business entities… not to impugn the black advertisers who support this publication. But, anyone who supports this publication does so with the understanding that we are not going censor anything that is truthful. Otherwise, you defeat the purpose of “Free Press.” It is one of the Constitution’s most cherished and protected rights. SO BRING IT ON!
